c.a.Leibow

“There is a crack in everything G-d has made” Emerson.
c.a. Leibow is among the poets that make us see the cracks in the American culture.
He, unconditionally, shares with us his enormous capacity for compassion and love in his poems.
He had made a “suits” for many of the Saltlakecitian poets, I am one of them.
c.a. Leibow brings back news of what the world is, to a segment of the American society that has been subjugated by religion.
It is with admiration and respect that Cilantro Journal includes his poems.

TO REMEMBER MISSING POET

Family, friends and colleges paid their respects Wednesday 09/02/09 to Graig Arnold, poet and University of Wyoming professor who went missing in April 2009 on a volcano, on the island of Kuchinoerabu-jima, about 30 miles off Japan.
Arnold published two award-wining collections of poetry, “Shells” in 1999 and “Made Flesh” last year.

QUOTES ON THE ART OF POETRY

A work of art is good if it has grown out of necessity. In this manner of its origin lies its true estimate: there is no other. Rainer Maria Rilke.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

A work of art expresses a conception of life, emotion, inward reality. But it is neither a confesional nor a frozen tantrum; it is a developed metaphor, a nondiscursive symbol that articulates what is verbally ineffable- the logic of consciousness itself. Susan K. Langer.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

To find my home in one sentence, concise, as if hammered in metal. Not to enchant anybody. Not to gain a lasting name in posterity. An unnamed need for order, for rhythm, for form, which three words we oppose to chaos and nothigness. Czeslaw Milosz.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I believe that every poem must be its own sole freshly created universe, and therefore have no
belief in ‘tradition’ or a common myth-kitty or casual allususion in poems to other poems or poets. Phillips Larkin.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The poet, described in ideal perfection, brings the whole soul of man into activity, with the subordination of its faculties to each other according to their relative worth and dignity. He difusses a tone and spirit of unity, that blends and (as it were) fuses, each into each, by that synthetic and magical power, to which I would exclusively appropriate the name of Imagination.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Accuracy of observation is the equivalent of thinking.
All poetry is experimental poetry.
There is no wing like meaning.
One reads poetry with one’s nerves.
Poetry is a pheasant disappearing in the brush.
Wallace Stevens.

To write Poetry is the reason of my life and existence.
The creative process not only anlarges my consciousness, but also give anxieties, suffering, satisfaction, pleasure, and friends.
Writing is the instrument which gives form to my dreams, and enrich my world.
With surprise and honor I receive this Writers@Work Award.
Thanks to the individuals who thought of My Poetry.
