TAO TE CHING – Lao Tzu chapter 76

When people are born they are gentle and soft.
At death they are hard and stiff.
When plants are alive they are soft and delicate.
When they die, they wither and dry up.
Therefore the hard and still are followers of death.
The gentle and soft are followers of life.

Thus, if you are aggressive and stiff, you won’t win.
When a tree is hard enough, it is cut.
Therefore the hard and big are lesser.
The gentle and soft are greater.

Taoism emphasizes non-dualistic thinking and the interconnectedness of all life.

In this state, we acquire important knowledge and necessary awareness of the unseen forces that make up the reality surrounding us, and a new comprehension concerning the interrelationships among people, things, and the natural universe.
Our consciousness connects with the past, present, and the future. ” He who knows that which has existed and also know what lies in the future.”
In another state, some individuals are simply born with an innate mechanism for achieving cosmic awareness, they posses an inherent capacity for transcendence.
