HEBREW SUPERTITIONS – FOR LORD GERRY BODNER

The Hebrews also had superstition about meeting one’s double. But for them, the fact that a man meets himself does not mean that death is approaching, but rather that he has arrived at a prophetic state. There is a Talmudic legend about three men who go in search of G-d. One became insane, the other died, and the third met himself.

In 2014 population statistics shows a 14.2 million Jews world population.
6.8 million Jews in USA / 6.0 million Jews in Israel
France 475,000 Jews / Canada 385,000 Jews
Russia 186,00 / Argentina 181,300
Mexico 60,000 / Chile 25,000
Japan 1,000 / Puerto Rico 1,500
Spain 12,000 / Germany 18,000
Every human being is born with some specific talent, some specific intellectual capacity. Nobody comes without a gift; everybody bring a certain potential. The idea of equality is dangerous and controversial. Let me use a Hindu metaphor to present this idea.
The rose has to be a rose and the lily has to be a lily and the lotus has to be a lotus. If you start making them equal then you will destroy them all; the rose, the lily, the lotus, all will be destroyed. You can succeed in creating plastic flowers which will be equal to each other, but they will be dead.

ANOTHER IDEA – ANOTHER UNDERSTANDING

According to longstanding tradition G-d bestowed upon Moses at Mount Sinai 613 divine commandments for the Jewish people to follow.
According to Maimonides’ writings. The first encompassed 248 positive commandments – corresponding to the number of organs and limbs in the human body, as if each were declaring, ” Perform a commandment with me.”
The second camp comprised 365 negative commandments – corresponding to the days of the solar year – as if were saying, ” Do not transgress this day.”

NO, I DO NOT PROMOTE MY POEMS, I DO NOT SELL SPIRITUAL ASPIRINS

ROBERT BROWNING ENGLAND’S MOST OBSCURE POET

Saxon origin, father English, grandmother Scottish, grandfather German of Jewish origin.
A wealthy man who knew from the beginning that he was destined for poetry. For every one of his poems, today, there are two or more explanations.
He writes his major work after the death of his wife Elizabeth: “The Ring and the Book.”
He was interested in contradictory and complex characters. Browning’s obscurity is not a verbal one. It is a psychological obscurity.
Once he was asked about the meaning of one of his poems, and he answered:” I wrote it long ago. When I wrote it, only G-d and I knew what it meant: now, only G-d knows.”
Another time he said: ” I have found this story of a criminal trial, a sordid story of adultery, the story of a murder, the story of lies and deceptions. And based on that story, which all of Italy talked about, and which all of Italy has forgotten, I will reveal to them the truth about the world,” and he wrote The Ring and the Book.

KARMA – JUST ONE UNDERSTANDING AMONG MANY

1. Stored karma: Good or bad deeds that stand to our account as earned and contracted in all previous bodies of the order of Creation, counting from the day of the first appearance of life on earth. Man knows nothing about them or their extent.
2. Fate or Destiny karma: The result and effect of which has brought man into his present body and has to be paid off in this life. The reaction of these karmas come to us unexpectedly and unperceived and we have no control over them whatsoever. Good or bad, we have to tolerate or bear this karma, laughing or weeping, as it happen to suit us.
3. Account of our actions and deeds in the present body karma: Distinct from the above mentioned two types. Men and women are free to do exactly as they please, within certain limits. Knowingly or unknowingly deed committed and coming under this heading bear fruit. The result of some of these we reap before we die and the residue is transferred to the karma 1 storehouse. Karma is the cause of rebirth, and each rebirth is in turn followed by death. Thus the cycle of enjoyment and suffering, which are concomitants of birth and death, continues.

THE MYTHICAL BIRD OF THE HINDUS, “HAUSA”

If you put milk mixed with water before “hausa,” the mythological bird of paradise, it will drink the milk and leave the water behind.
There are two tendencies in the human mind; one is always looking for what may be wrong in people.
Another is to overlook all that does not seem to be harmonious; to looks for good in every person, and finds some good even in the worst person.

The purpose of human existence and the meaning of life is to create capital.
The purpose of human existence and the meaning of life is not to create capital.

COMMANDMENTS – NON-COMMANDMENTS

BY A HINDU MASTER
Moses went up the mountain. After a long time G-d appeared.
” Today. I have a special deal for you Moses.” ” Oh no, Lord, really thank you, but I do not need anything right now. Some other time perhaps.”
” Moses, this is free” said the Lord.
‘Then,’ said Moses, ‘give me ten!’
the Ten Commandment are all fear-oriented – don’t do this, don’t do that. All the commandments have failed. Look at the state of the world today.
These Ten Non-Commandments constitute Osho basic attitude to reality, to freedom from all kind of spiritual slavery.
1. FREEDOM
2. UNIQUENESS OF INDIVIDUALITY
3. LOVE
4. MEDITATION
5. NON-SERIOUSNESS
6. PLAYFULNESS
7. CREATIVITY
8. SENSITIVITY
9. GRATEFULNESS
10.A FEELING OF THE MYSTERIOUS

THOMAS CARLYLE – ENGLISH LITERATURE

Carlyle, should I say turn out to be a pantheist: the only being that exist is G-d, though G-d does not exist as an individual being but rather through rocks, through plants, through animals, and through man.
Carlyle, in an article titled “Shooting Niagara,” went over to the Southern side of the USA civil war. He said that the Negro race was inferior, that the only destiny possible for the Negro was slavery, and that he was on the side of the Southern states.
Carlyle had no faith in democracy. He believed in the superiority of the German race. He could be understood as a precursor to Nazism. He not only believed in the superiority of the various Germanic nations but also in the superiority of England, Holland, and the various Scandinavian countries.
There is a German anthology of his work, published during the First World War titled “Work and Do Not Despair.” On it is possible to understand the effects of Carlyle’s thought.
Please read “Sartor Resartus,” “On Heroes, Heroworship & Heroic History.”

FOR THE SALT LAKE CITY POETS – THOMAS CARLYLE

Carlyle was born in a village in Scotland in the year 1795 and died in London. He lived a long industrious life devoted to literature, reading, scholarship and writing.
Carlyle had a humble origin. Carlyle was Scottish.
Here in my small circle of writer’s friends, it is common to confuse the Scots and the English. In a general and casual way I say that Scots are intellectuals and English are bullies. Nevertheless they are political unified.
Carlyle was an atheist; he did not believe in G-d. He became hunted by the idea that man can be saved through work. He thought that anything aesthetic or intellectual man did was despicable and ephemeral. But he believed that the fact of working, the fact of doing something, even if that thing was despicable, was not despicable.
Carlyle take the idea that this world is merely apparent, and gives it a moral and political meaning. He said that just as we see a green tree, we could see it as blue if our visual organs were different, and in the same way, when we touch it we feel it as convex, we could feel it as concave if our hands were made differently.
From A course on English Literature of Professor Jorge Luis Borges.

“I UNDERSTAND” BY A HINDU TEACHER

Understanding is totally different from knowledge. Knowledge is borrowed, understanding is your own. Knowledge comes from without, understanding wells up from within. Knowledge can never become part of your being. It will remain alien, it will remain foreign, it cannot put down roots inside you.
Understanding grows out of you, it is your own flowering. It is authentically yours; so it has beauty, and liberates.

I do not believe in equality for a simple reason that is impossible.
Every single human is unique. No two human beings can be equal, and they should not be.
I do believe in equal opportunity for every for everyone.
Equal opportunity for everybody to be unequal, unique.
